Hey dude good to see you're back at it.
This is a big change from what you were doing, your voice isn't quite strong enough yet to pull off what i like to call "the cookie monster singer".
Not bad so far guys, need some tighting up on the bands side, also you're a good singer and don't need to scream.
Good luck with the new band dude, you got talent so keep shooting for your dream dude.

heh...wasn't trying too much for a low growl. i can do some pretty weird low shit with my voice if i want to but i'm not trying to do much of that type of stuff with this band. more the high yell/scream type stuff.
as far as tightening up, we've got a ways to go. we had a half practice with the drummer, guitar player, and myself back in january but didn't really get much done. this was our first real practice, and we added a bass player(guitar player from the old band, who doesn't play bass). our drummer doesn't listen to anything close to the kind of stuff we're playing, so he's still getting a feel for it, and we've just barely started writing songs. this was the 2nd time playing this song at all.
i appreciate the kind words and hope we have more to bring to the table somewhat soon. we're never able to practice because our guitar player goes to school a few hours away and whenever he's been around our drummer hasn't been able to practice. figures...

I dig it.
I also played with a drummer that was mainly into jazz. it can be damn cool, and give you a really original sound. although for us, we just ended up sounding like the Dead Kennnedys...
keep on rockin!

thanks, peeker!
he's into some other stuff...he mostly listens to rush and journey so what we're playing is just a little different from what he's used to. he's grasping the concept well and actually doing a damn good job. he's a solid drummer. for that practice we were at my old drummer's house using his shitty kit, so he's also used to a much better setup.

so this is a shitty live recording from what is essentially our first practice. we're grindcore/metal type stuff. our bass player doesn't play bass. our drummer is good, but isn't too sure what to do with the music(he's into Rush and jazz...that's about it). our guitar player is good. i just bring vocals to the table. this is the second time we've played this song. it's about how cobra has all these huge elaborate plans but is always thwarted by duke and the joes. let me know how we're sounding so far...

Like Peeks said, nothing wrong with people bringing different styles into the group. You can learn something from them.
As far as that recording...at least your not one of them whiney singers. I hate whiney singers. Seems to be the thing around here.

I already sez what needed to be said, And Im just so lazy, I'll make this post, but not repost my comments
I think the drummer was great, though, and, Rush might suck ass, but, they had a good drummer, so, maybe his listening to them works out?
Again, kickass stuff, and It's good you're not going for a low growl, it's getting old with most bands these days, it can work sometimes, but, not that often anymore, the more vocal experimentation, the better, I say!
